artist statement Here the mud actually constitutes the article. Water was used to erode channels into the surface of the mud cast, creating in its path numerous waterways, falls and landslides. The head form appears as a weathered land mass. Unlike other large works that seek the ground this is raised upon a plinth and sits uprightly poised. Perhaps it rings somewhat true with the nature of our make-up. Antony Gormley often states: “… we all are earth above ground.” |
