artist statement a stream of gold and silver, she spoke no lies ... "they're restoring it in a couple of weeks" said Andrew. "what do you mean?" i asked. "you know, sand back and varnish" he added. a floor of 110 plus years in 'arrival' had born witness to a particular narrative across a certain passing of time ... from working wharf to re-purposed offices with Cafe amongst its vast foyer. a story so palpably attested to by its rich patina and directly earned scars of servitude, all enhanced and enriched with every happening small and large, and at every tick of time. all suddenly to be muted away within a blink, offering a whiff only of a story it so fully once told. an unthinkable insensitivity most criminal, i felt.
